II. Why he Won
Trump's second win in 2024 has been called the greatest political comeback of all time. Some have simmered down since Trump's inauguration, some haven’t, and those who weren’t simmering in the first place remain outwardly placid. But it’s time for Republicans to stop bragging what good organizers they are and time for Democrats to stop introspecting.
He didn’t win because Biden waited too late to choose Kamala or because Kamala chose Walz. He didn’t win because of the economy or trans-bathrooms or because Vance was a great pick. He didn’t win because Harris is a black woman, because of racoon-eating Haitians, men loving him or the chaos at the southern border. And he certainly didn’t win because he was the better man, an ethical man, or a God-fearing man. None of the above.
He won because his deceit convinced enough voters who were dissatisfied with various things going on in America that his was the best broom to sweep it all clean. Under other conditions it's understandable that voters would embrace such an approach. But NOT when the promises are being made by an Anti Social Policitian. Because ASPs can be counted on to promise anything and deliver nothing.
A year and one half into his term the two conflicts he promised to resolve within hours of his inauguration (Ukraine and Gaza) still rage. (They are still shooting in Ukraine and the touted "Gaza Peace Treaty" has exploded into a shooting war that has engulfed the entire Middle East. Two hundred thousand government workers have been laid off in the U.S. while Trump made overt plays to take over Greenland, Panama, and Canada, finally succeeding with Venezuela. He has put us at loggerheads with our closest and most dependable allies (Canada, UK, Australia, Germany and France), opened up trade wars with almost every major country sparking inflation both at home and abroad, and cut Medicare and Medicaid benefits. The specter of a full blown depression appears more and more likely.
No one should be surprised. A scientific analysis published 2 weeks before the election identified thirteen characteristics which when employed by an ASP (Anti Social Politician) have been historically irresistible to democracies while guaranteed to destroy them.
